General Call for Space Philosophy Topics
The Journal of Space Philosophy invites authors to contribute to our Spring and Fall 2025 issues. For these unthemed editions, we welcome submissions on a broad range of topics related to the philosophical, ethical, and societal implications of space exploration. We encourage work that pushes the boundaries of traditional discourse and explores the evolving relationship between humanity and the cosmos.
Potential areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Philosophical reflections on the human experience in space
• Ethical considerations of space exploration, colonization, and resource utilization
• The role of philosophy in shaping space policy and international cooperation
• The intersection of space technology and human values
• The implications of space exploration on identity, culture, and society
• The philosophy of interstellar travel and its potential impact on human civilization
• New perspectives on the Overview Effect and the transcendent aspects of space
• Artificial Intelligence and Consciousness in Space
• Religion, Belief, and Mythology in Space Exploration
• Sustainability and Resource Management in Space
• Transhumanism and Human Evolution in Space
Submission Guidelines
We request an initial submission of an abstract containing:
• Title of the paper
• Author(s) name(s)
• A brief CV for each author
• An abstract (not exceeding 300 words) outlining the main arguments and contributions of the proposed paper
• An anticipated word count for the final paper
Abstract Submission Deadlines
• February 1, 2025, for the Spring issue; August 1, 2025, for the Fall issue.
